They are rejects because the main silk industry uses machinery and the cocoons are often not the right size or weight for the machines to be able to process, Mumo's factories uses people not machines so this is avoided. The factory is located in Maringa Town Brazil, and exists to help the local community of a nearby shanty town- favela- where it employs women from.
